Amanda, writing under the pen name Florence Falshaw, is a Buxton-based author, illustrator, and the creative force behind Falshaw Fables — a collection of stories celebrating community, adventure, and the magical bond between humans and animals. Her books feature Wallace Harlequin Junior, her real-life mischievous pup, who stars in tales inspired by the Derbyshire hills and everyday acts of kindness.
From the waggy-tailed mischief of The Cow in the Temple — the first in The Accidental Adventures of Wallace Harlequin Junior — to the practical charm of Dog-Friendly Pubs in Buxton, Amanda’s work connects families, children, and dog-lovers with meaningful, locally-rooted stories.
She is also the creator of The Old Tree House Hotel series — warm, whimsical tales about woodland animals living in a mythical tree house where every creature has a nook to call home. These gentle stories spark curiosity, kindness, and imagination in younger readers.
