Corbar Cross sits atop Corbar Hill and offers stunning views of Buxton and the surrounding countryside. To get there from St John’s Road, follow the footpath near the hospital toward Corbar Woods, then ascend the trail through the trees to reach the cross. It is a popular place for dog walkers and there are often sheep in the fields as you approach Corbar Cross.
Originally the Great Stables and now part of the University of Derby, The Dome boasts one of the largest unsupported domes in Europe.
Visitors are welcome to admire its impressive architecture, and the acoustics are remarkable.
Please note that dogs are unable to go inside but you can stroll around the grounds.
This Edwardian theatre is renowned for its ornate design and vibrant cultural events. While not dog-friendly indoors, it’s a stunning landmark to admire during a walk through the town.
Adjoining the Opera House is also a charming conservatory which houses many beautiful rare plants and is accessible from next to the Opera House.
A Victorian-era gem, the Pavilion Gardens is a 23-acre oasis in the heart of Buxton. With beautifully landscaped grounds, a lake, and stunning architecture, t’s perfect for a leisurely stroll with your furry friend. There are lots of ducks and geese and whilst dogs don't have to be on the lead in the park it does get quite crowded so go steady and know your pooch.
Located in the Pavilion Gardens, The Octagon is a historic event space with beautiful arched windows and a unique octagonal design. It often hosts fairs, exhibitions, and community events.

A Georgian masterpiece and one of the most iconic buildings in Buxton. It now houses a luxury spa and hotel, but it remains a striking example of historic architecture and worth passing with your pooch (as they aren't allowed inside) on the way to your favourite dog friendly pub or to visit The Slopes.
The Slopes is a terraced park offering scenic views of Buxton. Designed by William Paxton, the manicured gardens and pathways connect the town centre to the historic Crescent. Its a great place to allow your pooch to enjoy the smells on the way to your favourite dog friendly pub.
Situated on The Slopes, the War Memorial honors the fallen soldiers of Buxton. The striking cenotaph provides a place for quiet reflection, surrounded by beautiful landscaping.
The memorial itself is draped by the Roman Goddess of Victory.
This charming five-story bookshop is a haven for book lovers. Filled with rare, second-hand, and new books, it’s an enchanting place to explore—and dogs are welcome too! Whilst dogs aren't allowed in the book shop its building to admire across the road from two popular pubs.
This Victorian folly atop Grin Low Hill offers breathtaking views of the Peak District. From the High Street, follow Green Lane uphill to Grin Low Road, where you can enter Buxton Country Park. Take the woodland trail up to the tower. Note that cattle are present at some times of year.
